☊ Hip-Hop History: "You Don't Have to Be Alone"

Just listen to the beginning of this song. Sounds familiar?

Weird, because that song is from the 1970's.. What you've probably heard is one of the modern remakes by artists such as Lil Wayne and Mac Miller and the Wu-tang Clan. "You Don't Have to be Alone" is one of the most sampled beats in rap history, and it's no wonder why. It's catchy as fuck, both sped up and slowed down. Props to New Birth for inspiring rappers for 40 years. Enjoy the most popular remakes below, and more after the jump.

Lightin' Up My La La La - Lil Wayne

Red Hook Day - Shabazz The Disciple

Mac Miller - Blog is Hot

And the remaining two which are less known, but definitely lyrically superior to the previous songs are here: Enjoy.

Tell A Story - Rhymefest

Me Her - Soloplexus
